Wednesday was Justin's birthday! We went on a submarine and had lots of good food to celebrate our favorite guy:)
Lando and I on the way out to the sub:)
Andie, Caden, and the birthday boy!
Ready for our first submarine adventure!
The submarine went down 130 feet and we saw so many cool things! The sunken ship and white tip reef shark were the favorites:) We also saw lots of beautiful fish and coral.
A really clear picture of the shark!
Family fun!
The front of the sunken ship - photo cred to Caden:)
After we got off the submarine and back onto the boat, we were able to watch it sink down with the next group on it!
Lunch at Lahaina Pizza Company....Justin's favorite meal of the trip! The view wasn't bad either:)
We ordered Justin a freshly baked cookie with ice cream (similar to a pazookie at BJ's) and the kids wolfed it! Caden especially, which is more typical of our little lady:)
A little "driving" back at the condo:)
Thursday we had family pictures in the morning, then we set out to the famous Iao Valley hike! These were pictures we took at the resort after we changed out of our picture clothes:) We thought there would be some quick food choices on the way, but all we found was McDonald's and a grocery store. Andie and I hit up the grocery store because "McDonald's isn't even real food" as she put it:) The boys got McDonald's with much excitement, but neither of the little boys like the food so they ate some of our grocery store finds!
Our kids aren't the most excited hikers so we took the highly recommended Needle Lookout trail. It was a gorgeous and perfect .5 mile hike:)
We then made out way South to Makena beach. It was so beautiful! It was a public beach, but not super busy. The lifeguards made announcements anytime we got near the water that you should not try to boogie board or swim because the surf was particularly powerful, dangerous and unpredictable on this day....
Here is Justin risking it....
Caden stayed closer to the shore because we wouldn't let him go too far out, but he had a ton of fun getting pummeled by the waves!
Friday was our last day on the island. We hit the beach right in front of our resort for some last minute boogie boarding, then jumped in the hot tub for a few:) We didn't get a picture, but the last three nights of our trip, Justin walked down to Duke's to get us Hula pie. Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING! A chocolate cookie crust with macadamia nut ice cream and hot fudge, toasted macadamia nuts, and whip cream on top! YUM!
Caden caught some great waves!
Andie built a "castle", and nobody wanted to leave:(
After we checked out we went to Honolua Bay, which we will definitely have to snorkel at when the kids are older!
We took a little walk through the trees and Justin encouraged the kids to swing on the vines, even though the signs said NOT to leave the path!
Awesome family shot:)
Our last stop was the Maui Ocean Center. It was a really cool indoor/outdoor aquarium!
Caden and I played this quiz game about blue whales at least 10 times!
Andie and Landen went through the blue whale bubble curtain simulation about 100 times!
Real sharks!
Justin had Caden (and everyone) doing the Shocka all week!
Such a fun ending to the best trip ever!
We hit up Target for a few snacks for the plane ride and some headphones....we didn't get these ones:)
The red-eye flights are brutal with kids:( Poor Lando was SO tired!
After a six hour flight to Seattle, we had a 3 hour layover:( It was a little rough, but the kids were champs! These tablets saved our lives!!!
Waking up to eat a little breakfast before our flight to Denver:)
And as soon as we got in the car at the airport, this was the scene. They also went to bed at 5:30PM that night! We couldn't have had a better trip!
