8 Weeks

I can't believe that Caden is already 9 weeks old! The first few weeks are definitely a blur - God's way of helping me forget so that I will have more babies:) Caden had his 8 week appointment last Wednesday. He is super healthy and growing like crazy! He weighed in at 10 pounds 15.6 ounces and was 23 inches long - Caden is one long and lean little man:)

The American Academy of Pediatrics (http://aapredbook.aappublications.org/resources/IZSchedule0-6yrs.pdf) and our pediatrician recommend a series of shots at the two month appointment. Justin and I made an educated decision to immunize Caden and any future children that we may have. There is a lot of incorrect information out there about immunizations that has caused some people to refuse immunizations for their children. I could write an entire blog about immunizations but don't want to stir up any controversy:) Caden received three intramuscular injections (2 in one leg, one in the other) and one oral immunization. The oral immunization was given first and was quite sticky. Caden didn't love it and choked a little at the end, but took it without fussing:)

Justin comforted him while he got the shots in the legs - such an amazing Dad. Our nurse was incredibly efficient and caring, and made the process as painless as possible. Caden was upset for about 30 minutes after the shots, but recovered quickly. He moves his legs ALL the time, so that helped. No parent likes to see their little one in pain, but we know that these immunizations will protect him from some pretty nasty illnesses.

Two weeks ago I had my six week post-partum appointment and everything was healing just as it should be. I have lost all of weight that I gained while pregnant, but let me just say that my aerobic fitness is not anywhere near where it was and my weight seems to be distributed a little differently:) I can't wait to go for a good run! I will have to wait until 12 weeks to do high-impact activities like running to ensure that everything is completely healed, but I am counting the days.

Running is the only thing that I have not been able do again, and I just have to be patient on that one. However I have had a great time eating cookie dough and lunch meat again! My wonderful husband has been so kind to make me cookie dough and delicious sandwiches that I missed so much while being pregnant:) I will post soon about Mother's Day and my first week back at work!

I'm so glad to hear you and Caden are doing well and are both healthy! Watching Caden take his oral immunization was a little like watching you eat sushi for the first time (gag and all!). ;)

I hope you had an amazing first Mother's Day! You have quite the adorable little family my friend.
