Grandpa's 90th Birthday

Family gathered to celebrate my Grandpa Verschoor's 90th Birthday down in Galveston, TX the weekend of November 8-11. I flew down to join them on Saturday night so that I could celebrate Andie's first birthday with her. Andie and Grandpa are 89 years and two days apart! It was so great to see some of my extended family. Disclaimer: most of this pictures were stolen from my Aunt Karen:)

My Uncle Curt rented a house that came with the backyard game washers. Our family loves games and is quite competitive so there were some late nights:) Here are Bryan and Thomas celebrating.....

Cake # 1 on Saturday night

On Sunday, we went to Grandpa's church. The Pastor recognized Grandpa's birthday and all of the family that had joined him to celebrate. After church Uncle Curt treated everyone to the brunch at a fancy hotel and spa called Hotel Galvez. The food was AMAZING! I may or may not have had 4 desserts.....

The whole crew: Thomas, Teri, Omi, Poppi, Greg, Karen, Carolyn, Aunt Marie, Grandpa, Uncle Curt, Rein, Carla, Karl, Jerry, Kathy, John, Susan

Let me just remind you that my family is less than photogenic....

Take 2.....if you splice the two together everyone is smiling at least once:)

The delicious cake that Aunt Karen got from Grandpa's favorite bakery! German chocolate with the traditional German chocolate icing as filling so that they could actually write a message on the top!

Blowing out the candles!

Grandpa with his two granddaughters.....we had to change into Broncos gear after church and brunch to support our favorite team!:)

Many friends came to wish Grandpa happy birthday. These are two of his close companions down in Galveston: Daisy and Margaret. They have a great community and really take care of one another. They keep a pretty busy social calendar, going to church and senior luncheon, and playing bridge and dominoes every week:)

My Grandpa is doing great at 90 years old! He is still very independent and very mentally sharp. He is still interested in the stock market, politics, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren:) We always enjoy spending time with him and can't wait to see him this summer!
