The weeks are flying by and I was starting to feel like we were no more ready for this baby than when we conceived 19 weeks ago! Justin sensed me getting a little anxious so he designed the crib that he is going to build for Baby J and all future Baby Smutz'. He went to Austin Hardwoods (one of his favorite places) and bought some of the wood that it will take to start bringing his beautiful design to life.
Justin's birthday was October 4 so he asked for gift cards from both families so that he could buy some "very necessary" tools for the crib project. I think he made out like a bandit! With a little money of our own we were able to get him a 12 inch Dewalt Compound Mitre Saw, laser guide, blade, router table, and flood lights. We have a compound mitre saw, but it is not very accurate so Justin wanted something that he could use for a long time to come. He does a lot of research and really thinks hard about what he wants, but he always seems to like products with all of the available options- something his good friend Mike has coined "Smutz Syndrome". The flood lights might seem a little odd, but as you can see in the picture Justin does his work on the balcony since we are currently lacking a garage and he needs all the lighting he can get with the days getting shorter and shorter! As those of you with handy husbands with expensive taste will understand, making the crib will not save us any money but it will be built with solid cherry wood and much love! I am super excited for this crib:)
The only other purchase that we have made for the nursery is a giant bear that you see pictured. Sorry the picture isn't great quality, but it was taken with my cell phone. We were shopping around Costco one Saturday morning and Justin just happened to come upon this box of bears. Of course he had to have it so we threw it in the cart. Not kidding, at least 10 people stopped us on our way to the checkout to ask where we had gotten the bear.....apparently they are a hot item:)
Our birthday celebrations with our families were amazing! There was much delicious food and fun had by all. I also received gift cards as well as lots of cute maternity clothes. Good thing since the bump is growing quickly (at least it feels that way to me)! I promise I will put picture of my bump on the next post. We are anxiously awaiting our ultrasound on the 22 to find our the gender of our little bundle:)

Ian is a big fan of Austin Hardwoods, too. Luckily, we live in FoCo (nice and far from the store!). I can't wait to see the crib! And, yes, please post baby bump pictures! I'm living vicariously through your blog until I get to see you in person!!!
Take care friend! And, just out of curiosity, where did the nickname "Baby J" come from?
Thanks for reading Ambs! We call the baby "Baby J" because Justin's baby is in there. Kinda weird I know, but we have called it that since before we even starting trying!
