Dr. Smutz

Justin graduated from Dental school last Friday (May 25)! Justin is blaming the pregnancy hormones, but I think I would have teared up even if I wasn't pregnant:) It's just such a HUGE accomplishment. Caden and I couldn't be more proud of Justin.

The celebrations started on May 8 when Justin was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Justin thought this was a joke, but very quickly learned that it was a very serious honor! OKU was established in 1914 to promote and recognize outstanding scholarship and character among dental students. In order to be considered, a student must be in the top 10% of their class. Then the faculty members select those students that "have demonstrated exemplary traits of character and potential qualities of future professional growth and attainments." It was so great to see Justin receive this honor:) Not the best pic of any of the inductees, but it's the only one I had!

On Thursday May 24, Justin's parents and I had the privilege of accompanying him to the Dental Class of 2012 Awards Banquet. We got to spend a wonderful night with Justin's closest friends and their wives, while celebrating their amazing accomplishment! In addition to his Omicron Kappa Upsilion membership, Justin was awarded the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Award:)
